On Memorial Saturday, the Divine Liturgy for the Deceased and a Memorial Service were conducted. Father Sasa talked about the necessity of prayer for the departed and the meaning of the wheat, wine and candles that we use when we celebrate the memorial service and mention those deceased in the Lord.

The following Day, on the Feast of the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, that perpetual Pentecost has brought together dozens of Russians and Belarusians to our St. Sava Parish, who contributed to practical experience of this holy feast through songs and words abiding in Pentecost.

Presbyter Fr. Sasa Djurdjevic celebrated the Liturgy, while the choir led the faithful in joyful responses and singing of liturgical hymns.  After the reading of the Gospel, Father Sasa preached to the faithful the importance and meaning of the feast and invited all to pray to Life-creating Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, to allow us very soon we begin to serve in our new church so we can feel the joy of Pentecost and every blessing and joy in the Resurrected Lord.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy the Festal Bread, Slavski Kolach, was cut.  We collected a small donation for Hilandar Monastery, following the words of the Gospel: “It is much more blessed to give, than to receive” (Acts 20:33-35). Our invaluable sisters, as always, prepared an Agape meal, i.e. feast of love.
