On Children’s cemetery in Sisak, a memorial service for the children, innocent victims of the Ustasha concentration camp, was held on 6 October, 2018.

With blessing of the competent hierarch Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagren and Ljubljna, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Pakrac-Slavonija served the memory rite (panichida) together with other priests concelebrated to hum.

On behalf of the survived camp residents, the gathering was addressed by Mrs. Dobrila Kukolj, talking about importance of gathering and keeping memory of innocently suffered children. The gathering was also addressed by Dr. Milorad Pupovac, President of the Serbian National Council, who talked about horrors of the children’s concentration camp and of the need for teachers and children from schools to visit such places of suffering.

The gathering of the remembrance of the victims of the camp in Sisak, the children at age from few months until 13 years, was held under auspices of the Serbian National Council from Zagreb and the Council of the Serbian national minority of the City of Sisak. The event took place in the memorial park of Diana Budisavljevic, that has recently got this name after this famous benefactor who had saved children in distress in the Second World War. The gathering was attended by the member of the Croatian Parliament Mr. Furio Rubin, Minister for Demographics, Family, Young and Social Politics Mrs. Nada Murgaric; representatives of the embassies of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Serbia, mayor of Sisak Mrs. Kristina Ikic Banicek, monastic sisterhood of the monastery of Jasenovac, members of the Association of the camp residents Jasenovac from Belgrade, Banja Luka etc.
