Memorial service to Ilija M. Kolarac at Cathedral church

Yesterday, on St. Thomas Day - October 19, 2011, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch served in the Belgrade Cathedral church a memorial service to Ilija Milosavljevic Kolarac, the benefactor who redebted for all times the Serbian kin with his Christian goodness and philanthropy. The commemoration was attended by representatives of the Kolarac Endownment. 

Ilija M. Kolarac, the Belgrade trader and the great endower of our people, was born aroun 1800 in a village of Kolari near Smederevo.  His estate earned in the trade of saltpetre and salt, he left with his last will to the Serbian people by forming the Fund for a creation of the Belgrade University and the Fund for aiding literature. His most famous endowment is the Kolarac University.
