Memorial service for innocently suffered and defenders of the Fatherland in 1999 NATO bombing

His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia served today at the St. Marko Church in Belgrade a memorial service to the innocent victims and defenders of the Fatherland during the NATO bombing in 1999. Patriarch of Serbia served with the concelebration of Vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno and the priesthood of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac.

On the occasion of the day when the Serbian people is reminded of the victims of the NATO bombing of Serbia, in the presence of many faithful, Prof. Dr Bogoljub Sijakovic, Minister of Faith in the Government of Serbia, and His Excellency Aleksander Konuzin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Belgrade, His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia stressed that this sad and prayerfully remembrance of those who suffered on the soil of our Fatherland and those who fallen by defending their homes and sanctuaries.
