Memorial service to King Alexander I Karadjordjevic at Oplenac

On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the assasination of King Alexander I Karadjordjevic, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija on October 9, 2011 served the Hierchal Divine Liturgy in the church of St. George the Great Martyr at Oplenac.

The Bishop was concelebrated with hierarchal deputy of Kragujevac protopresbyter-staurophor Miladin Mihailovic, hierarchal deputy protopresbyter-staurophor Rajko Stefanovic and hierarchal deputy of Raca presbyter Ljubisa Djuras with priests of the vicarage of Oplenac.

At the Holy Liturgy nuns from the monastery of Nikolje chanted along with the choir "Oplenac" led by the conductor Marija Rakonjac.

After the Liturgy the memorial service to king Alexander I Karadjordjevic was served, and then a commemoration was served in the crypt of the Karadjordjevics.

After the commemoration officials of the army and local authorities laid wreaths on the grave of the knight king.
