Memorial Service For Patriarch Alexy II Of Blessed Repose

On Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 12 in all churches of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac, a memorial service has been served for Patriarch Alexy II of Russia of blessed repose.

With the blessing and on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, at the Catedral Church at noon the memorial service for Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia od blessed repose has been served by His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, a vicar of His Holiness with the concelebration of priesthood and deacons of the Cathedral church. On this occasion, they all chanted along with lots of people unanimously Memory Eternal!

On sunday, Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, the vicar of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia served Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the St. Marko`s church with a concelebration of priesthood and deacons of this holy temple. After the memorial service His Grace Bishop gave a speech about Patriarch Alexy of Moscow. He said that Patriarch Alexy was a spiritual giant, a moral column and a voice of consciousness for whole mankind; furthermore he was one of main participants of main events that shaped our world, because he was involved in every part of everyday life in which he gave his gospel contribution. In the end of his speech, His Grace stressed that newly presented Patriarch was a Gift of God for man of today.


After the Holy Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, along with priests and deacons went to the Russian church of Holy Trinity, where at noon he served there the memorial service for Patriarch Alexy of blessed repose, with concelebration of father Vitaly Tarasjev, the head of the Russian church, priesthood and deacons. The memorial service was attended by His Excellency Aleksandar Konuzin , the ambassador of the Russian Federation,with his wife; representatives of Vatican and other faithful people. His Grace thanked, on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia, to Patriarch Alexy of blessed repose for the support he gave the Serbian people and he wished that the Lord would also act through his heir, a future Patriarch.
