Metropolitan Amfilohije attended enthronements in Fier and Elbasan (Albania)
Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral attended the enthronement of Metropolitan Nicholas of Apollonia and Fier at the Cathedral of Saint George in Fier, Albania, on 16 April 2016 as well as the enthronement of the new Metropolitan in Elbasan, Anthony.
Metropolitan Nicholas has been a Vicar Bishop of Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, who performed the rite of enthronement with the concelebration of the members of the Synod of the Orthodox Church in Albania.
Metropolitan Amfilohije greeted a newly-enthroned Metropolitan Nicholas on behalf of the Serbian Patriarchate and gave him a hierarchal panagia (encolpion) as a sign of unity and brotherly love of our two Churches. The Metropolitanate of Apollonia and Fier is a newly-founded Metropolitanate. Until recently it was a part of the Metropolitanate of Berat.
It was on the next day that in the church of Saint Nichoals in Elbasan Metropolitan Anthony of Elbasan, Shpat and Librazhd was enthroned. He has been Vicar Bishop of Archbishop Anastasius for several years, and from now on he will head the newly-founded Metropolitanate, which has been until recently a part of the Archdiocese of Tirana and Durres.
