Metropolitan Amfilohije: We will obey the regulations, but we expect the state authorities to obey St Basil of Ostrog

His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, being  a guest of a programme "Internet cross procession", said that the Church would obey the recommendations of National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases (NKT) during the days of celebrations of St. Basil of Ostrog, as it had done it  before, but that he would expect representatives of the state authorities and the police to obey  St. Basil as well.

"We do not neglect physical health, and many who have come to the Ostrog shrine have received healing from many physical weaknesses and diseases, but St. Basil also gives us spiritual healing. Consequently, I expect that a great number of the faithful will come to join us while celebrating the memory of St. Basil on the 12th of May; all those who are able to come may venerate his Holy Relics, following all the recommendations of medical institutions. I also expect that the police will not to prevent the faithful from coming to the Ostrog shrine,” said Metropolitan Amfilohije for the programme "Internet cross procession”, which was broadcast on the 10th of May from the plateau of the Upper Ostrog.

However, this same afternoon, the police stopped and sent back some faithful from the direction of Nikšić and from the direction of Danilovgrad, who set off a pilgrimage to venerate St. Basil of Ostrog.
