Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and all Japan consecrated the Church of Epiphany in Nagoya

Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and all Japan consecrated a Church of Epiphany of Our Lord in Nagoya in Japan. Believers from many countries have donated the money needed for its construction since 1980. An 11-metre high Suzdal-style snow-white building was erected in a matter of six months. In Japan, there are about 60 Orthodox churches but the overwhelming majority are tiny "house" parishes. There are few churches as those in Nagoya.

About 300 believers came to attend the consecration of the new church. The service went non-stop for four hours, led by Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and all Japan. To accommodate all those who came, the parish provided a separate hall with a live video feed of the service.

The Orthodox Parish in Nagoya  (the Western Diocese) of the Japanese Autonomous Orthodox Church was established in 1880. The existing Holy Annunciation Church was built after the Second World War and for a long time it could not receive all the orthodox community of this city over two million citizens.
