On 11 September 2017, the presentation of the book “The Lamb of God” by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, rector of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Postgraduate Studies, took place at the Medvedkovo bookstore. It is the fifth book in the six-volume series “Jesus Christ. Life and Teaching.”

As Metropolitan Hilarion noted, addressing all those present, the church tradition knows many works that are dedicated to Jesus Christ, His teaching, life, death and resurrection, and that, as a rule, explore the Gospel from the theological point of view. “In this book I based myself, first of all, on the story of life of Jesus Christ, trying to show Him as a real man and at the same time as a man who was God. The Gospel According to John, as no other Gospel, reveals the divine nature of Jesus Christ. It begins with the words, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (Jn. 1:1). This Word is the Son of God Who came down to earth and became man,” Metropolitan Hilarion said.

The Book “The Lamb of God” focuses on those passages from the Gospel According to St. John that have no parallels in other Gospels. The central theme of this text is the affirmation of the faith that Jesus Christ is God Incarnate. In the end of the fourth Gospel it is confessed by one of the disciples of Jesus, Thomas, who says, addressing the Teacher, “My Lord and my God” (Jn. 20:28).

After the presentation Metropolitan Hilarion answered numerous from the audience.
