Metropolitan Onuphry Gives Respirator and Protective Equipment to Kiev Hospital

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, received several doctors from the Alexandrova Clinical Hospital of Kiev at his residence in the Holy Dormition-Kiev Caves Monastery yesterday, March 30.

During the meeting, the primate gave an artificial respiratory device and personal protective equipment for the medical staff of the hospital, reports the Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The meeting was attended by the heads of several departments at the hospital as well as Vadim Novinsky, a Ukrainian Deputy and President of the International Charity Fund that donated the necessary equipment to the Ukrainian Church to use as necessary to counteract the spread of the coronavirus.

The donation comes just days after the Metropolitan and the Deputy donated a ventilator and 100 protective suits to the children’s hospital in Chernivtsi.

His Beatitude told the doctors about the Church’s attitude to the problems that have arisen both in Ukraine and throughout the world due to the coronavirus and especially highlighted the sacrifice of medical personnel and clergy in the conditions of the quarantine.

In turn, Dr. Olga Anatolievna spoke about the state of affairs in the city’s hospitals, about the course of the coronavirus and the scale of its consequences, and, on behalf of all medical professionals, thanked His Beatitude for the valuable gift.

To conclude the meeting, Met. Onuphry wished God’s help for all the doctors and gave them his primatial blessing.

His Beatitude earlier called upon all UOC monasteries to prepare to receive coronavirus patients if necessary, and for his flock to focus on repentance in the face of the current threat.
