The Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana visited the Orthodox High School

On the second day of the school year 2020/21, September 8, His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb and Ljubljana visited the Serbian Orthodox High School Kantakuzina Katarina Branković in Zagreb.

Due to epidemiological measures, the Metropolitan visited each class separately. He wished the pupils and the teaching staff success and blessed their work. Addressing the pupils, Metropolitan Porfirije emphasized importance of hard work and  acquisition of work habits, solidarity and fraternal relations among students:

- Work is most valued at school. It is not enough to rely on the abilities and talents you have. You need to acquire work habits and to work hard. Through your effort, your talents will develop themselves and reach their maximum. The Church, as the founder of the school, and the teaching staff are here to provide you with opportunities, so that the best in you will produce the best result.

-In addition to the efforts to learn what is being taught, it is important for you to have good relations with each other. It is, perhaps, for a nuance more important than the knowledge itself you will acquire. Don’t be jealous if someone is better. If the thought of jealousy occurs to you, let it encourage zeal in you and let it be an incentive for you to be better as well, said the Metropolitan and called on the pupils  to help each other and to foster solidarity with each other.

The Metropolitan was accompanied by Bishop Nikodim of Dalmatia, who wanted to visit the school. Out of 64 pupils who are attending the school this year, 9 high school pupils come from the area of the Dalmatian diocese. Bishop Nikodim, being himself actively involved in the education, upbringing and education of young seminarians in the Krka Monastery, showed interest in the life of students, in the educational process as a whole, but also in measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 the teachers and pupils observe.
