Metropolitan’s evangelic mission in Colombia
Like the first Apostles, their disciples and new enlighteners, Metropolitan Amfilohije heard the voice of Jesus that echoes: “Go forth and baptize all the peoples”, while continuing his evangelic mission in South America.
This distant South American country, which bears the name of Christopher Columbus, the man who discovered America, got its Orthodox missionaries in recent years.
His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral and Administrator of Buenos Aires and South-Central America, arrived to Colombia on Friday, 8 December 2017, and on the next day, 9 December 2017, he attended the Holy Liturgy in the church of Holy Trinity in Medellin celebrated by Father Simeon (Lopez).
On the Sunday, 10 December 2017, the Metropolitan served the Holy Liturgy during which he ordained Colombian Esteban as deacon.
Esteban Alfonso Dias Niño, born in the town of Duitama in Colombia, spent his childhood in Venezuela. He was a Catholic Dominican monk in Bogota and while in that monastery he studied theology at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Colombia, but before that he graduated philosophy and history at the University of San Tomas in Bogota (Colombia).
