This new Museum of the Serbian Diocese of Buda (Budapest) was solemnly opened on the 25th of May 2019 in Szentendre

While paying an official archpastoral visitation to the Diocese of Buda and its residence city Szentendre, the Serbian Patriarch Irinej visited first the Serbian Cathedral church knows also as the Belgrade church.

 At a reception for high stateand Church dignitaries at the Diocesan residence, Bishop Lukijan of Buda hosted the delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church – Serbian Patriarch Irinej, Bishop Irinej of Backa, Bishop Kiril of Buenos Aires and South America, Bishop Isihije of Mohacs, as well as Cardinal Dr. Péter Erdő, Bishop of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Hungary Paul Lackner, State Secretary of Hungary Mr. Miklós Soltész, Minister of Culture of Serbia Mr. VladanVukosavljevic, Minister of Education and Science of Serbia Mr. Mladen Sarcevic, General Secretary of the President of Serbia Mr. Nikola Selakovic, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Hungary Mr. Ivan Todorov, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Hungary Mrs. Biljana Gutic,  Director of the Offie for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities Mr. MiletaRadojevic.

The Bishop greeted also military attaché of Serbia to Hungary Lietenant Colonel Dusko Djekic, Chairman of the Serbian Local-Selfgoverment  in Hungary Mrs. Vera Pejic Sutor, Serbian deputy in the Parliament of Hungary Mr. Ljubomir Alekov, Parliamentary representatives Mr. Sándor Hadházy, Mayor of Szentendre Mr. Miklós Verseghi-Nagy, Director of the Galery of Matica Srpska Dr. TijanaPalkovljevicBugarski, Director of Provincial Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments Mr. Zoran Vapa, Director of the Patriarchate Library Mr. Zoran Nedeljkovic, Director of the Library of Matica Srpska Selimir Radulovic, Director of the Museum of the Serbian Patriarchate deacon Vladimir Radovanovic and other officials from public and cultural life of Hungary and Serbia.

His Holiness escorted by bishops and priests arrived to the building of the first Serbian school for training teachers – Preparandia, where he performed a rite of consecration of the new Museum. In this context Bishop Lukijan of Buda addressed the assembled dignitaries.

In his response His Holiness emphasized especially the significance of friendship of Serbia and Hungary and thanked the Government of Hungary for the generous aid to the Serbian Orthodox Church in Hungary.

The project of construction and adaptation of the new Museum of the Diocese of Buda was implemented with the financial support of the Government of Hungary and the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Government of Serbia.
