New Orthodox church in Hamburg
On October 22, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Theophan of Berlin and Germany in Hamburg a service for the laying of a foundation stone of a new Church was performed.
The service was celebrated by Archpriest Sergy Baburin with Priest Dionysius Idowein concelebrating. The Hamburg community is starting an Orthodox cemetery which will become a park, adorned with traditional Russian wooden architecture, reports the website of the Diocese of Berlin and Germany.
A week ago, a disassembled wooden Church, created by architects of the "Tekton"building workshop, arrived to Hamburg from Russia.
Within a month and a half, at the efforts of the masters and volunteers of the community, the Church will be assembled.
The work on the whole complex is supposed to be completed in spring when the great blessing of the new Church in Hamburg is to take place.
