A New Shrine For The Relics Of Saint Mina
Today, 9 November 2011, a new shrine for the holy relics of Saint Great Martyr Mina at Saint Mina –Vergu church was consecrated by the Patriarch of Romania in the historical chapel of the Patriarchal Residence.
As Trinitas Radio station informs us, His Beatitude showed in the sermon delivered the responsibility we must prove when we worship the holy relics.
“Now a new shrine was consecrated for Saint Great Martyr Mina who is the protector of the persecuted, helper of the injured and guardian of the lonely ones. It is a pleasure for us to properly worship the saints’ relics, especially of the martyrs, because we have the joy and duty to improve this worship in more beautiful shrines, as we have already said in the prayer specially drafted for consecrating the shrine. The modest ones, made of wood are renewed now because we shall account for the freedom we have to express our faith. The worshipping of the saints could not be practiced in all its beauty in time of persecution, so that now, when we are free our responsibility is greater”, as His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church said.
Saint Mina – Vergu church was built in 1725. The relics of Saint Great Martyr have been in this place of worship since 1874.
