The second Lausanne-Orthodox Initiative (LOI) Consultation

The second Lausanne-Orthodox Initiative (LOI) Consultation was held at the serene St Vlash monastery in the Albanian capital of Tirana from September 15 to 19, 2014.
According to Revd Canon Mark Oxbrow, Facilitator, Lausanne Facilitator for Orthodox-Evangelical Relations, the final commnique issued states “that relationships between Evangelicals and Orthodox engaged in mission have not always been positive. But with the efforts from LOI which is working towards increased mutual understanding and healing of wounds, in order to collaborate more effectively in God’s mission.”
International Colloquium on Saint Maximus the Confessor as a European Philosopher held in Berlin

To a particularly beautiful, full of qualitative academic contributions event dedicated to the person of Saint Maximus the Confessor the International Colloquium, titled ‘Maximus the Confessor as a European Philosopher’, was evolved.
The Colloquium was realized as a synergy of Freie Universitat in Berlin and the University of Athens and was held in Freie Universitat Berlin’s Institute of Philosophy in Berlin, from September 26-28, 2014.

The ancient region of Nineveh in Iraq, one of the world’s first Christian enclaves, has been emptied of its Christians. Islamic State terrorists have driven off or murdered the entire city’s population of Christians. Across Iraq other Christians have fled en masse. Canon Andrew White, the only Anglican Vicar in Iraq told the Telegraph “Last week there was no communion in Nineveh for the first time in 2,000 years. All are closed, all their people have run away.”

Documentary film about genocide in Turkey

Assyrians are preparing for the 2015 centennial commemoration of the genocide committed against them in World War One by Ottoman Turkey. A film team spent recently three weeks in southeast Turkey shooting for a documentary film which will premiere next year. The Turkish genocide targeted Assyrians, Armenians and Pontic Greeks between 1915 and 1918. 750,000 Assyrians (75%) were killed, 1.5 million Armenians and 500,000 Pontic Greeks.
