Service of supplication for Martyr Elizabeth Feodorovna held in Beijing

In Beijing in the Orthodox Church on the territory of the Russian Embassy, a  service of supplication was held to Grand Princess, martyr Elizabeth Feodorovna. This was announced today in an interview with correspondent of Itar-Tass, said Bishop Sergius (Ivannikov) of Barnaul and Altai.

“Today’s liturgy has been devoted to the appearance of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God – the keeper of the Orthodox East,” – said Bishop Sergius. “After Sunday’s liturgy, a prayer was also chanted in her honor, and we visited the site of the ruined temple, where the remains were buried before, of other co-martyrs of the Princess - Grand Duke Sergei, the princes of royal blood John, Konstantin and Igor, and their servants – Theodore and Vladimir.

Russian Orthodox Church of St Elias in Istanbul under threat of destruction

The Orthodox Church of St Elias in Istanbul is under threat of demolition. The Church that was built in late 19th century and once attended by descendants of participants of the White movement who in 1920s fled Russia, together with two more Churches of the community are situated on the territory that the authorities are planning to hand over to the tourist business, reports Challenges.fr. The city administration long ago refused to put the church on the protected objects list.

Procession went through Russia, Ukraine and Belarus

From 30 May until 29 July 2013 an international procession with relics of Holy Prince Vladimir Equal-to-the-Apostles, devoted to the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia went through territories of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus 

The main goal of this solemn procession was to show timeless spiritual values of Orthodoxy, towards which Saint Vladimir led his people 1025 years ago. The procession visited Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Pyatigorsk, Saint Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Babruysk, Gomel, Mozyr, Minsk, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Chernivtsi, Bochany monastery,Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra,  Uzhhorod, Sviatohirsk, Donetsk, Lugansk. Kharkov, Chernigov, Kiev. All hierarchs, representatives of the authorities and civilian society, as well as hundreds of thousand believers from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus venerated the relics of Holy Prince Vladimir. In many places  cultural events, youth gatherings and discussions with priests took place during the procession. 

Delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church concludes the visit to the Russian Orthodox Church

The delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which is led by His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, has left Moscow the capital of Serbia this morning. 

His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, director of the Department of Interchurch Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate; His Grace Bishop Antonije of Moravica, head of the Representation of the Serbian Patriarchate in Moscow; as well as Mr. Slavenko Terzic, ambassador of Serbia to the Russian Federation. 

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at Pikridion for Feast of St. Parakevi

On Friday, July 26, 2013, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Paraskevi in Pikridion (Hasköy) on the occasion of the community's patronal feast. The church is attended by many Romanian Orthodox Christians living in Istanbul.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His All-Holiness led a Trisagion Service for the repose of the souls of the late Patriarch Teoctist of Romania as well as the mother and daughter of Archon Panagiotis Tsakos, a great benefactor Pikridion Community. Among those in attendance were Metropolitan Amphilochios of New Zealand, Consul Generals of Greece and Romania in Istanbul, Ambassador Nikolaos Matthioudakis and Ms. Stefana Greavu, as well as faithful from the local community, Greece and Romania. A reception was held after the Divine Liturgy.
