Monk Gregory Krug, a prophet of the uncreated beauty

Exhibition organized May 14-June 30, 2019, at the Russian Orthodox Cultural and Spiritual Center, 1 quai Branly, Paris (7ème arrondissement), on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the repose of the famous monk iconographer.

It is the first exhibition devoted to the work of George Krug, this painter who emigrated from Russia. He became a monk just after the war under the name of Gregory, and lived for more than twenty years at the hermitage of the Holy Spirit, in the solitude of the forest of Rambouillet. Leonid Ouspensky’s friend and helper since their meeting in 1931, he took an equal part in the return to traditional iconography. Through the depth of his inspiration and his exceptional artistic talent, he was the spiritual indicator for this move back to tradition.

First Orthodox christian theologian receive a doctorate in Erskine

On May 4, 2019, John G. Panagiotou became the first Orthodox Christian theologian to receive a Doctorate in the 182-year history of Erskine Theological Seminary in South Carolina. Erskine Seminary was founded in 1837 and is rooted in the Reformed tradition. It is one if the oldest divinity schools in the American South. Dr. Panagiotou’s dissertation is titled The Path to Oikonomia with Jesus Christ as Our Lighthouse: A Study in the Theology of Christian Stewardship.

UK FM blasts persecution of Christians as report brands it ‘genocide’

The study commissioned by the UK Foreign Office has shown what it refers to as a modern-day exodus of Christians from the Middle East, with violence against them also spreading in other parts of Asia as well as in Africa.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on Thursday joined the March of the Living, a 3-kilometer walk from the Auschwitz concentration camp to Birkenau in Poland, to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust. The annual march coincides with Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah) and marks the murder of 6 million Jews in the Holocaust. Participants in the March on Thursday, May 2, 2019, included Romania’s PM Viorica Dăncilă, the US Ambassador to Israel David Melech Friedman, representatives of the White House, ambassadors from all across Europe and other officials.

Consecration of Archbishop Patriarchal Vicar for Jerusalem

On April 10, 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at Mor Aphrem Cathedral in Amman – Jordan. During the Qurobo, His Holiness consecrated Very Rev. Raban Gabriel Dahho as Archbishop, Patriarchal Vicar in Jerusalem, Jordan, and the Holy Lands.
