News From Parish of Saint Thomas in Johannesburg

With the blessing of His Holiness Kyr Irinej, Serbian Patriarch and His Holiness Kyr Theodor, Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Grace George, Bishop of Canada and His Eminence Damaskinos, Archbishop of Johannesburg and Pretoria, concelebrated the Divine Liturgy at the church of St. Apostle Thomas in Johannesburg, on 21 (8) October 2012, on the occasion of the Patron Saint-day of the church.

Visit to African school in Tembissa

On Wednesday morning, 30 October 2012, Archimandrite Panteleimon (Jovanovic) - the principal of the church of Saint Thomas the Apostle in Johannesburg, visited a primary school - St. Athanasius Christian School in Tembissa, in an African suburb of Johannesburg. Cheerful pupils along with their Orthodox priest Fr Frumentius (Taubata) and Mr. Anastasia Berth (Moswane) -  the school master, welcomed the father with the icons of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Most Holy Mother of God. During this visit, Fr Panteleimon noticed newly built classrooms, a new reception hall, a faculty lounge. It was also wonderful to see more pupils in the school than before.
