Feast of the Holy Great Sovereigns Constantine and Helen, Equal to the Apostles
3. June 2020 - 11:05The Church calls St Constantine (306-337) “the Equal of the Apostles,” and historians call him “the Great.” He was the son o the Caesar Constantius Chlorus (305-306), who governed the lands of Gaul and Britain. His mother was St Helen, a Christian of humble birth.
At this time the immense Roman Empire was divided into Western and Eastern halves, governed by two independent emperors and their corulers called “Caesars.” Constantius Chlorus was Caesar in the Western Roman Empire. St Constantine was born in 274, possibly at Nish in Serbia. In 294, Constantius divorced Helen in order to further his political ambition by marrying a woman of noble rank. After he became emperor, Constantine showed his mother great honor and respect, granting her the imperial title “Augusta.”
President Vucic visited Veliko Tarnovo, place of repose of Saint Sava
2. June 2020 - 11:28President of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, accompanied by the Bulgarian Prime Minister Mr. Boyko Borisov, visited the church of Holy Forty Martyrs of Sebaste in Veliko Tarnovo, the place of repose of Saint Sava, the first Archbishop of Serbia.
“I am very proud and sincerely happy that Prime Minister Borisov arranged it for me to visit Veliko Tarnovo, this sacred place, when I see how our Bulgarian brothers keep memory of Saint Sava. For us, this is not only a proof of friendship and brotherly love, but a proof of their commitment to an improvement of our mutual relations as well”, said President Vucic, who stressed that Saint Sava was the most important person in Serbian history, because he founded the autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church in 1219.
Serbian Patriarch Irinej celebrates in the church of Holy Transfiguration of the Lord in Belgrade
1. June 2020 - 9:17His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of the Holy Transfiguration of the Lord on Pashino Brdo, in Belgrade.
The Patriarch was concelebrated by archpriest Dragisa Jocic, dean of the church; and Aleksandar Lukavac, presbyter Zoran Rankovic, Ph.D.; Dean of the Faculty of the Orthodox Theology of the University of Belgrade, protodeacon Stevan Rapajic and deacons Nikola Petrovic and Dragan Simkic.

On the Sunday of Fathers of the First Ecumenical Assembly, 31 May 2020, His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of Archimandrite Danilo (Ljubotina), protodean Bogoljub Ostojic and deacon Dragan Radic .It was the first service in the church in which, after it suffered from the earthquake, protective scaffolding was set up.
Bishop Jovan of Sumadia celebrates in Lapovo
1. June 2020 - 8:18On the seventh week after Easter dedicated to Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Assembly, the faithful people of Lapovo with joy welcomed its hierarch, Bishop Jovan of Sumadija.
The Bishop was concelebrated by local clergy. Serbian Orthodox Singers sang responses.
After one hundred years Bishop serves at the church dedication feast in Medvedja
1. June 2020 - 8:00His Grace Bishop Arsenije of Nis celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy on the feast day of the Ascension of the Lord in the church of the Ascension of the Lord in Medvedja.
This is not the first time Bishop Arsenije comes to Medvedja, but this is the first time after one hundred years that one Bishop serves the Liturgy on the day of the church dedication feast, presbyter Boban Vukovic, parish priest in Medvedja said.
