Support to the Centre for the fight against drug addiction "Land of the Living" in Diocese of Backa

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch and Prof. Dr. Zoran Stankovic, minister of Health, signed today at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade the Memorandum on cooperation of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia. The act of signing of the Memorandum was attended by His Grace Bishop Porfirije of Jegar, head of the monastery of Kovilj, under whose spiritual and material patronage, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa, the drug rehabilitation center - the community Land of the Living works.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch served today the memorial service at the Royal Palace Chapel of St Andrew the First Called on the occasion of 50 years since the death of Queen Maria. The memorial service was attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II, Princess Katherine and Prince Philip Karadjordjevic.

His Grace Vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno blessed on Saturday, June 18, 2011 in the Patriarchate chapel of St. Symeon the Myrrh-Gusher the most successful participants of the contest "Days of Cyrillic Alphabet" and their hosts, members of the culture and art society "Aca Obradovic" from Bavaniste and on that occasion pointed out  the significance of the preservation of Serbian language and the alphabet, as determinants of the Serbian national being.

On Sunday of All Saints, His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch brought a blessing to the monastery of St. Roman in Djunis, where he served the Divine Liturgy.

Sunday of All Saints in Zemun

On Sunday of All Saints, the first week after Pentecost, His Grace Vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, with the blessing and on behalf of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch, served the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Trinity in Zemun. 

Memorial service for 6000 Serbian victims of the Ustasha "Black legion"

In Stari Brod, which is administratively belongs to Rogatica, 15 km along the Drina canyon below Visegrad, on Saturday June 18, 2011, the memorial service was held for 6000 Serbs who were in spring 1942 killed by the members of the notorious Ustasha regiment "Black Legion", then  foundations,  cross and bells of the chapel whose construction began last year in May, were consecrated.
