Visual-Literary Exhibit - "Over There, So Far Away: 1918-2018"

In commemoration of the 100thAnniversary of the Break Through of the Salonica Front (September 14thto 30th, 1918), which led to the ensuing liberation of Serbia and Montenegro (September 29thto November 13th, 1918), and the conclusion of the Great War November 11th, 1918),His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America, has given his Archpastoral blessings for the Department of Christian Education of the Eastern American Diocese, in cooperation with the non-profit organization Art Exchange, and the Society for the Cultivation of Tradition and Culture of Valjevo, to present avisual-literary exhibit “Тamo Daleko: 1918-2018” / ”Over There, So Far Away: 1918-2018”,in all church-school congregations of the God-protected Eastern American Diocese, from September 16th, 2018 until June 16th, 2019. First five decades of the mutual walk through childhoods. - New life paths of St. Sava’s Little Bell (Svetosavsko zvonce) and its school readers announced.

On the Sunday of December 16th, 2018, in the full Kombank Hall in Belgrade St. Sava’s Little Bell (Svetosavsko zvonce) and the Church Charity Stewardship  - with the blessing of His Holiness Irinej – there was held a solemn academy on the occasion of celebration of the feast-day of Saint Nicholas and marking of the great jubilee of this children’s periodical– the 50th anniversary of its existence and work.

A great exhibition of тхе Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Sremski Karlovci

The evening began with chanting of troparion to Saint Nicholas, the heavenly protector of the Cathedral church, which was performed by the Childrens’ choir of the Cathedral church, Slatkopojci, followed by the Mixed choir of the Cathedral church Saint Arsenije of Srem that  performed Oh, Mother of God, the Virgin, a prayer in honour of the Most Holy Mother of God, who has been performing miracles and still performs them through its miraculous icon in the Cathedral church.

By God's grace, St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in North Canton was once again able to host the Talija Art Company - this year in Massillon at the Lions Lincoln Theater.  Over 200 people gathered in the premier, century-old grand American Theater to enjoy live Serbian dance, music, and culture. This year’s performance was themed around the 100-year anniversary of Serbian victory in World War I.

With the blessing of the His Grace the Right Reverend Irinej, Bishop of Eastern America, on September 15, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Serbia and the United States in World War I.
