His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, attended the Academy  on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the suffering of the Serbian people in the March Pogrom in Kosovo and Metohija at the National Theatre in Belgrade yesterday.

His Grace Bishop Jovan of Ulpiana accompanied His Holiness.

160th years of the First Belgrade Chanting Ensamble

In Belgrade’s National Theater the traditional New Year’s concert of the Cathedral church began with Lord’s prayer Our Father and the Serbian anthem  O, God of Justice  - on the occasion of the Patron Saint-day of the First Belgrade Chanting Ensamble – Saint Basil the Great.

At the National Museum in Belgrade on January 11th, 2014 the solemn academy on the occasion of the nine centuries of the birth of Stefan Nemanja began with the hymn Lord, Give Us Justice and the prayer Our Father.

An author of the program entitled  “The Vertical of Victory” on the occasion of the nine centuries since the birth of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher is Jasmina Stoiljkovic, drama artist of the Serbian drama of the National Theatre from Prishtina, and the organizer is the Geopolitika magazine, along with the support of the National Museum.

Ornaments of Serbian medieval frescoes

The Museum of Applied Art stages the exhibition “Memory Update – Ornaments of Serbian Medieval Frescoes” on the 6th of November 2013 to mark this year’s anniversary of its founding. The exhibition will be open until 31st January 2014.

An interest in ornament as particular visual and semantic, as well as a linguistic phenomenon becomes more and more increasing in the visualization world of all segments of modern communication. An ornament is often used as a decoration, a pattern, a decorative detail in applied art and architecture but it also bears a broadest span of symbolical, culturological and religious meanings that are susceptible to various analyses and even mathematical reading and interpretation.

The Miroslav Gospel, the oldest preserved Serbian Cyrillic manuscript, will be exhibited on 24 October at the National Museum, within the exhibition "Vows and Messages. Stefan Nemanja - Nine Centuries" 

Gospels will be exhibited from 12 until 20 hours. It was created in 80s of the XII century by the order of Hum´s prince Miroslav, about which the record on the last page of the book. Prince Miroslav was the brother of the Grand Prince Stefan Nemanja of Ras (Rascia) and this exhibition is dedicated to the 900th anniversary of the birth of Grand Prince.
