Miroslav Gospel will be exhibited on 24 October

The Miroslav Gospel, the oldest preserved Serbian Cyrillic manuscript, will be exhibited on 24 October at the National Museum, within the exhibition "Vows and Messages. Stefan Nemanja - Nine Centuries" 

Gospels will be exhibited from 12 until 20 hours. It was created in 80s of the XII century by the order of Hum´s prince Miroslav, about which the record on the last page of the book. Prince Miroslav was the brother of the Grand Prince Stefan Nemanja of Ras (Rascia) and this exhibition is dedicated to the 900th anniversary of the birth of Grand Prince. 

Aleksandra Nitic, custodian of the Serbian medieval and Byzantine art in the National Museum in Belgrade, will talk about this unique manuscript of the great importance for the Serbian culture. 

The Miroslav Gospel was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list, in the register of the Memory of the World in 2005. Entry in this list is the confirmation of the great significance and value of the Miroslav Gospels. 

The National Library of Serbia, which is the home institution for protection of the old and rare book, proscribed a special conditions under which the Miroslav Gospel can be exhibited only ten days during one year. 

According to that, after 24 October, next dates in which Gospels can be seen will be first and last Thursday in the month during the exhibition "Vows and Messages. Stefan Nemanja - Nine Centuries" .
