Graduation ceremony at the Orthodox College of Africa in the Metropolis of Nairobi

August 2019 - 14:07The graduation ceremony at the Orthodox College of Africa, where for nearly twenty years now academic and spiritual work has been carried out on the premises of the Metropolis of Nairobi on the same site as the Orthodox Patriarchal School, was held in an atmosphere of excitement and joy. This year’s ceremony was very special as exactly 100 students graduated in the presence of Metropolitan Makarios of Nairobi.
Multi-day cross processions underway in Bulgaria and Romania

August 2019 - 12:20Cross processions, when the faithful gather in prayer, bearing icons and banners, are an especially beloved form of worship among Orthodox Christians, and the summer months are especially conducive to the extended cross processions that are especially beloved in Eastern Europe.
Hundreds of thousands gathered in processions in Kiev and throughout Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia to celebrate the Baptism of Rus’ on July 28. While the procession in Kiev is perhaps the most well-known, other processions are also underway in Bulgaria and Romania, among other places.
Greek and American volunteers in Kenya
6. August 2019 - 12:30Throughout August, specialist scientists and academics, doctors etc. shall be in Kenya to volunteer their services to Kenyans. The first group of Americans has already arrived, receiving a warm welcome by Metropolitan Makarios at the Patriarchal School. Then they moved to the Muken area of the Nandi people (a part of the Kalenjin ethnic group found in East Africa), where Metropolitan Makarios laid the foundation stone of a new library and chemistry labs in one of the Orthodox Junior and Primary Schools throughout the Republic of Kenya. The aforementioned volunteers shall help the building.
Thе Feast of Prophet Elijah in Ma’alule of Nazareth
6. August 2019 - 12:22On Saturday, July 21/ August 3, 2019, the commemoration of the Holy Prophet Elijah the Thesbite was celebrated at his Holy Church in Ma’alule town, suburb of Nazareth.
This Church belonged to the Arab-speaking community of the Patriarchate, who deserted it along with the whole Ma’alule town when the State of Israel was established in 1948.
Festal celebrations for the 27th anniversary since the enthronement of Archbishop Anastasios
5. August 2019 - 8:13With the participation of six Archpriests, many priests and a crowd of people, the 27th anniversary of the enthronement of the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Albania was celebrated on Friday, August 2, at the Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral of Tirana.
This event is a starting point for the rebuilding, rebirth and reestablishment of the Church in the neighboring country.
