Katskhi Pillar Partially Rehabilitated

The National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation, in their 2015 program, restored one of the monastery buildings of Katskhi Pillar.

Katskhi pillar is a natural limestone monolith located in Imereti, Western Georgia, and was listed among the most bizarre looking churches in the world.

The Feast of St Savva the Sanctified at the Monastery of the Archangels, Jerusalem

On Thursday, the 4th/17th of December 2015, the memory of St Savva the Sanctified was observed at the chapel dedicated to his name within the Monastery of the Archangels, at a short distance to the north of the Patriarchate.

Archimandrites Claudius, hegoumen at the Monastery of the Holy Cross, and Paisios, hegoumen at the Monastery of the Prophet Elias, and father Nikiforos officiated at Vespers and the divine Liturgy. Nuns sang as a congregation of monks and nuns attended the service on the invitation and hospitality of His Eminence Demetrios, Archbishop of Lydda, Secretary of the Holy and Sacred Synod.

His Holiness John X of – Patriarch Antioch and All East met with His Holiness Igantius Aphrem II- Patriarch of Antioch and All East and Supreme Primate of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church in Latakia. Both Primates exchanged warm greetings at one of the monasteries in Latakia. They also visited the monastery embroidery unity that makes Orthodox Liturgical vestments. High level delegation from both Churches discussed the situation in Syria Iraq and the entire Middle East.
