The Patriarch of Jerusalem lights up The Christmas tree in Nazarteh

Sunday, the 30th of November/13th of December 2015, His Beatitude Theophilos, Patriarch of Jerusalem, accompanied by the Most Reverend Joachim, Metropolitan of former Zambia, arrived in Nazareth, Galilee. There, in the town square, Patriarch Theophilos lit up the Christmas tree, extending wishes for a happy New Year. Attending the ceremony were Metropolitan Kyriakos of Nazareth, the town’s priests, the Chairwoman of the Board of the Greek Orthodox Arabic-speaking Community, the Mayor, the Director of the Office of Christian Affairs at Israel’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, representatives of other Churches and Community Services, and a crowd of approximately 10.000. The Patriarch addressed those present in Arabic.

On Friday the 28th of November/11th of December 2015, H.B. Theophilos, Patriarch of Jerusalem, crossed the Jordan River bridge near the site of the Baptismal of the Lord and arrived at the town of Fhes, a suburb of Amman, Jordan. He was accompanied by the Elder Secretary-General, Archbishop Aristarchos; the Patriarchate’s liaison with Arabic-speaking Media, f. Isla Musleh; and Archdeacon Evlogios.

Almost for a year a group of Orthodox Christian volunteers from Minsk (Belarus) have been  helping the people living in Donbass. Belarusians have been collecting humanitarian aid and money and organizing various vacations for the children living in the region devastated by fierce fighting.

Bulgarian Patriarch Asks Poroshenko to Protect Ukrainian Orthodox Believers From Persecutions

Patriarch Neophyte of Bulgaria expressed his concerns over violations of Orthodox believers' rights in Ukraine.

"We are seriously concerned with the numerous documented violations of the rights of the believers belonging to the only canonical Church in Ukraine. First of all, we refer to seizures of UOC churches by force," the patriarch said in his letter to Ukrainian president Pyotr Poroshenko, the UOC press service reported on Wednesday.

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, officiated after the Divine Liturgy on Saturday, 12 December 2015, the blessing of the restored painting of the St Spyridon the New Metropolitan Cathedral in Bucharest, surrounded by an assembly of priests and deacons. His Grace Timotei of Prahova, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest, who had officiated the Divine Liturgy before the blessing service took place, was also present together with His Beatitude. The event took place on the feast day of St Spyridon, the spiritual protector of the place of worship.
