On 3 May 2015, the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp took place in the territory of the former concentration camp. The commemorative events are traditionally held on the first Sunday after April 29.

Taking part in the large-scale celebrations were representatives of Munich’s major religious organizations, as well as public and political figures, such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Minister-President of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer.

On Monday, the 14th/27th of April 2015, H.B. Theophilos, Patriarch of Jerusalem, accompanied by the Elder Secretary-General, Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, Archimandrite Ieronymos, Hegoumen in Fhes, and the Hegoumen of the Monastery of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, f. Hilarion, visited the Israeli town of Shelomi which lies on the site of the old town of Basia that had been in existence until 1948.

The Greek Orthodox Arab-speaking community that inhabited Basia left the town during the events that resulted to the foundation of the state of Israel in 1948.

On the occasion of this jubilee His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej sent a Message to His Holiness Patriarch Neophite of Bulgaria. – Our Holy Church was represented by His Grace Bishop Pahomije of Vranje at celebrations at Priska.

The anniversary celebrations of the Baptism of Bulgarians were held on May 2nd,  on the feast-day of Saint  tsar Boris – Michael, the Equal-among-the-Apostles. A triumphant solemn Pan-Orthodox Liturgy was celebrated within the great basilica at Priska. His Holiness Patriarch Neophyte officiated the Divine Liturgy while 27 hierarchs, representing all local Orthodox Churches, concelebrated.

Jonathan Jackson, a popular American actor, has visited Holy Mount Athos together with his 8-year-old son and Fr. Matthew, his confessor, reports AgionOros.ru.

During his first pilgrimage to Mt. Athos the actor visited the Xenophontos, Simonopetra, and Vatopedi Monasteries. He spent five days at Vatopedi Monastery (from last Friday till Tuesday this week). Jackson, who attended all services, has been much impressed by the life of Athonite monks. He has characterized Archimandrite Ephraim, Abbot of Vatopedi Monastery, as “a man filled with love of Christ”.

On April 30, 2015 , His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia participated in the ceremony of the reburial of Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich the younger, and his wife, Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna. Having died in exile and first buried at Archangel Michael Church in Cannes, France, they are now being reinterred in Moscow at the Bratsky Military Cemetery in Sokoly. Participating in the ceremony was Mr Sergey Naryshkin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation; Mayor Sergey Sobyanin of Moscow; His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk, President of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate; His Eminence Archbishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe; General Pankov, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation; Duke Dimitri Romanovich, Chairman of the Union of the Romanov Family; representatives of the Moscow government and academia.
