On Monday, the 23rh of July/5th of August 2013, His Beatitude Theophilos, Our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem, was visited by the Patriarchal Commissioner in Bethlehem, Archbishop of Jordan, Theophylaktos, accompanied by select members of the Arab-speaking Community of Bethlehem (Rum Orthodox). At the meeting, He was informed about the completion of necessary works and preparations for the foundation of a Spiritual Center near the pilgrimage site of Bethlehem. The center aims to offer religious, Christian, linguistic and technical information mostly intended for the youth of the Bethlehem congregation.

Church of Royal Martyrs being built in Thailand

The Church of Holy Royal Martyrs in the town of Hua Hin in Thailand will be the seventh Orthodox Church in the country. For nearly 15 years of Orthodoxy in the country this is more than little.

Russian Orthodox Church sends money to Patriarchate of Antioch to help people affected by armed conflict in Syria

The Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for Church Charity and Social Service transferred 1,320,407 $ to the bank account of the Patriarchate of Antioch in the beginning of August 2013. The money was collected at the Russian Orthodox churches with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to help people affected by the military hostilities in Syria.

On Sunday, August 4, 2013, His All-Holiness presided over the Paraklesis Service at the monastery of St. George Karypi on the Princes' Island of Antigoni (Burgazada). The sermon was offered by Archimandrite Kyrillos Syki, a priest of the Metropolis of Didymoteichon, Orestias and Souflion.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with Primates of Local Orthodox Churches

On 29 July 2013, Mr. Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, met with the Primates and heads of the delegations of the Local Orthodox Churches, who came to Minsk for the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia. The meeting took place in the White Hall of the Church of All Saints. The Cross of St Andrew the First Called Apostle was brought to the Church of All Saints the day before and will stay there till August 2.

Taking part in the meeting were His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa; His Beatitude Patriarch Theofilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine; His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia; His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia; His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of New Justiniana and All Cyprus; His Beatitude Metropolitan Sava of Warsaw and All Poland; His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada; hierarchs of the Local Orthodox Churches, who came for the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia; and members of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church: Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch for All Belarus; Metropolitan Yuvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna; Metropolitan Vladimir of Chișinău and All Moldova; Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, head of the metropolitan area in the Republic of Kazakhstan; Metropolitan Vikentiy of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, head of the metropolitan area in Central Asia; Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Saransk and Mordovia, chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; and Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations.
