Serbian church delegation visits Moscow theological school and Sofrino art production factory

On July 18, 2013, after the Divine Liturgy in the Saint Sergius Laura of the Holy Trinity, the delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church visited Moscow Theological School and the Sofrino art production factory.

According to different estimates, 40 to 50 thousand people gathered in Yekaterinburg to honor the memory of Royal Martyrs at the night service commemorating their murder.

The night-time service of Divine Liturgy was opened by Metropolitan Kirill of Ekaterinburg and Verkhotury, as he addressed the thousands in attendance. In his sermon, Vladyka explained the spiritual significance of the Royal Family’s heroic deed, especially emphasizing the historical meaning of that place. He also encouraged every Orthodox citizen to understand and fulfill his responsibilities to his country.

Immediately after his arrival to Moscow, the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church Irinej visited the Patriarchal and Synodal residence at the Saint Daniel Monastery. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia cordially welcomed the high Serbian church delegation.

Afterwards Serbian Patriarch Irinej celebrated the rite of thanksgiving at the church of Church of All Saints Who Shone forth in the Land of Russia during which Patriarch Kirill of Moscow was praying in the sacristy. The rite of thanksgiving was performed in attendance of the Director of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate (DECR)  Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Metropolitan Pavel of Ryazan and Michailov, Chairman of the Administrative Secretariat of the Moscow Patriarchate Bishop Sergius of Solnechnogorsk, dean of the Representation of the Serbian Patriarchate in Moscow Bishop Antonije of Moravica, Secretary of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia for the City of Moscow archpriest Vladimir Divakov, Deputy Director of the DECR archpriest Nikolay Balashov, Secretary of the DECR for inter-Orthodox relations archpriest Igor Jakimchuk, Assistant Director of the DECR protodeacon Vladimir Nazarkin as well as ambassador of Serbia to Moscow Mr. Slavenko Terzic.

The feast of the Gathering of the Apostles in Tiberias

On Saturday, the 30th of June/13rd of July 2013, the feast of the Gathering of the Twelve Holy Apostles was celebrated at the Holy Monastery dedicated to them, near the western shore of the Tiberian sea, at the centre of the present-day city of Tiberias. This Monastery was discovered on the ruins of an older Monastery, dated to the years of St Helena. At the Church of this Monastery, His Beatitude Theophilos, Our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem officiated the divine Liturgy with the Very Reverend Kyriakos, Metropolitan of Nazareth, the Most Reverend Aristarchos, Archbishop of Constantina, Hegoumens of Monasteries in the vicinity of Tiberias, e.g. the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, Archimandrite f. Ilarion, the Holy Monastery of Cana in Galilee, Archimandrite f. Chrysostomos, presbyters of parishes in the region of Galilee and priest-deacons, with the pious participation of Russian-speaking and Arab-speaking faithful, hailing from Galilee and Accra, and amidst chants from the Choir of Accra-Ptolemais under Hegoumen Archimandrite f. Philotheos.  

The feast of Sts. Peter And Paul, Glorious Heads Of The Apostles, in Capernaum

On Friday the 29th of June/12th of July 2013, the feast of the glorious saints, Apostles Peter and Paul, was celebrated at the Church dedicated to them in Capernaum. The church, which invites admiration both outside and inside, was built by the late Damianos, Patriarch of Jerusalem, in 1935, on an archeological site with ruins of ancient Capernaum on the west bank of the Tiberian sea.
