On 20 May 2012, the sixth Sunday of Pascha, Sunday of the Blind Man, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow. Concelebrating at the service marking the fifth anniversary of the reunification of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) with the Russian Orthodox Church was the delegation of the ROCOR.

On 7 May 2012, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated a prayer service on the occasion of Vladimir Putin’s inauguration as President of the Russian Federation.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church met the Russian President and his wife at the entrance to the Cathedral of the Annunciation.

After the litany, during which a special prayer was lifted up for Russian President Vladimir Putin, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill said a prayer for the head of the Russian state to govern the country in peace and lead it to prosperity.

On 9 May 2012, members of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church: Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna; Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Saransk and Mordovia, chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, attended the military parade on the Red Square marking the Victory Day.

Among those invited to attend the parade were archpriest Dimitry Smirnov, head of the Synodal Department for Relations with the Army and Law Enforcement Agencies; archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church-Society Relations; representatives of the traditional confessions of Russia; and members of the Presidential Council for Cooperation with Religious Associations.

On 29 April 2012, after the divine service at the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and members of the delegation that accompanied him laid a wreath and flowers at the monument to the Emperor Alexander II on National Assembly Square in Sofia.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was joined in honouring the memory of the Tsar Liberator by Metropolitan Dometian of Vidin, Bishop Tikhon of Tiberiopol, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria: Yu. Isakov of Russia, V. Kachanov of Belarus, N. Baltaji of Ukraine, and residents of the capital of Bulgaria.

They sang Memory Eternal and troparion of the Resurrection of Christ.

On 28 April 2012, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov at the premises of the Council of Ministers.
Taking part in the meeting on behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church were Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR); Bishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administrative Secretariat; Mr. Vladimir Legoida, chairman of the Synodal Information Department; archpriest Nikolai Balashov, DECR deputy chairman; archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations; hegumen Filipp (Vasiltsev), rector of the metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church; and M. Kuksov, acting head of His Holiness’s personal secretariat.
