The feast of St. George in Venice

This year’s feast in the church of St. George of the Greeks in Venice, was very different. The sestiere (district) overseer was honored in an empty temple due to the measures taken for the coronavirus.

Metropolitan Gennadios of Italy officiated at the festal Divine Liturgy and wished to celebrate St. George next year “face to face”, as Patriarch Bartholomew said, with health and all together!

Mount Athos: The litany of the icon of “Axion Esti” took place with restrictions, due to coronavirus measures

With a small number of monks, compared to previous years, and without the presence of lay visitors, the procession of the historic icon of the Virgin Mary “Axion Esti” took place on Monday morning, in Karyes of Mount Athos.

The procession of the icon began after the Divine Liturgy, at ten in the morning, with the established formality, with bells ringing and chanting, from the Protaton church.

Word took flesh. Any Christian believer knows that God came down to earth as a man to live among His creations to take up their sins on Him and to die for their sake; He resurrected and ascended to Heaven. This was a grand plan of God for He loved us so much. In return, He expects us to love Him in the same manner. But we have our priorities focussed elsewhere. Rather than reciprocating His love, we choose to follow the infamous Eden incident.

Romanian Orthodox Church and Ministry of Interior decided to distribute Holy Fire to faithful’s door

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania, in collaboration with the Romanian Orthodox Church, decided that the Holy Fire would be distributed to the faithful’s home on the night of the Resurrection, following a relevant agreement signed between the two parties. According to the announcements, priests, parish volunteers and police officers will distribute the Holy Fire tonight at 20:00.
