Archimandrite Chrysostomos Kykkotis elected as new Metropolitan of Kyrenia

The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus, met on Thursday morning, on November 24, 2011, to elect a new Metropolitan of Kyrenia. Following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. John, the Synod elected Archimandrite Chrysostomos Kykkotis as the new Metropolitan of Kyrenia. 

The chirotony of the Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Kyrenia  will be on Saturday morning, on December 10,  at the Panagia Pallouriotissa Church and the enthronement will be at 4 pm of that day at the Church of St. Barnabas in Kokkinotrimithia.

Following the election , Archimandrite Chrysostomos Kykkotis, in his first news statement, expressed the confidence in the Holy Synod and thanked the people of Kyrenia for the confidence shown to him saying that he would do his best the for Metropolis of Kyrenia.

On Sunday, November, 20, 2011, the anniversary of the issuance of Holy Patriarch Tikhon’s historic Ukase No. 362 and the birthday of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, celebrated Divine Liturgy at the invitation of His Eminence Archbishop Gabriel of Koman, Exarch of Russian Orthodox Churches of the Constantinople Patriarchate in Western Europe, at St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Paris, France. His Eminence was joined by Archbishop Gabriel himself, His Grace Bishop Michael of Geneva and Western Europe and a host of clergymen of the Exarchate, the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Church Abroad.

The Patriarch Of Romania Varnished The Exhibition Of Old Books And Liturgical Objects At Cotroceni Museum

On 16 November 2011, the exhibition of old books and liturgical objects dating from the 17th – 18th centuries was varnished: “For the benefit of the Christian People” – Culture and Spirituality in Wallachia. The items have been selected from the collections of the Romanian Patriarchate and of Cotroceni Museum and displayed for the first time in a museum space.

A 70 member group of students from the Republic of Srpska visited the Patriarchate

On Monday, November 7th a group of seventy young people from the Republic of Srpska, accompanied by the Minister of Family Youth and Sport of the above mentioned country Mrs. Nada Tesanovic and by the advisor of the Delegation of this country in Israel Mr. Alexander Nicolic visited the Patriarchate.


They were cordially welcomed by His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos.

Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Srpska visits the Patriarchate

On Saturday, October 30th / November 12th 2011, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Autonomous Republic of Srpska, in the frame of the wider Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Miroslav Milovanović, accompanied by one of his counsels, under the Manager of the Office of Srpska in Israel Mr. Ariel Livne and by the Special Advisor of the Delegation of this country to Israel Mr. Aleksandar Nikolić, visited the Patriarchate.
