Digitalization of Libraries in Ecumenical Patriarchate Under the Aegis of HTO
14. October 2011 - 8:57Greek HTO and Cosmote company have undertaken the work of digitalization and documentation of Libraries in the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Theological School of Halki.
The chairman and chief executive of HTO, Michalis Tsamaz visited the Ecumenical Patriarch in Constantinople in order to give information about the contribution of HTO to digitalization of libraries in Patriarchate, using modern methods of analysis and access to the digitalized material.
A working team consisting of analysts, consultants, and engineers will be responsible for the creation of an information infrastructure for digitalization and documentation of written cultural documents in Patriarchate and Theological School.
In Notre Damme Orthodox All Night Vigil served on the Eve of the feast day of St. Dionysius the Areopagite
14. October 2011 - 9:28The Orthodox All night vigil was served on October 9, in the church of Notre Dame, on the occasion of St. Dionysius, the first Parisian bishop, who is honoured by both the Orthodox and the Catholics.
The solemn service was held by the head of the Diocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in France, Metropolitan Emanuel of Gaul.
The Saint Dionysius the Areopagite - holy martyr, one of the seventy apostles. He was Athenian aristocrate, who was converted to Christianity by Saint Paul the Apostle during the significant speech in the Athenian areopagus.

Over 70 lost old icons given to the Church

October 2011 - 9:19Over 70 antique icons that had been taken out of the Russia following the revolution and during WWII were handed over today by patron Sergei Shmakov as a gift to the Russian Orthodox Church. This charitable act was part of a project blessed by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. It took the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Alexander Avdeev, and the businessman-patron many trips abroad over the course of a year to find these unique examples of Russian iconography.
