On Sunday afternoon, March 18th 2018, the Orthodox clergy and faithful of the Lehigh Valley gathered at St. Paul’s Antiochian Orthodox church in Emmaus PA., for Lenten Vespers on the Sunday of St. John Climacus.

Serving with Fr. Andrew Damick, the rector of St. Paul’s, were Fr. Matthew Joyner (St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox church, Bethlehem PA.), Fr. Anthony Perkins (St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox church, Allentown PA.), Fr. Theodore Petrides (Holy Cross Greek Orthodox church, Strausburg, PA.), Fr. James Manson (ret.,St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox church, Bethlehem PA.) and Fr. Michael Kon (Bulgarian Orthodox Diocese).

Georgian villagers fighting construction of casino next to church

Residents of the village of Sarpi in the Adjara Region of Georgia are outraged by the construction of a casino next to the village’s Orthodox church that is already underway. “Give up this godless venture!” the Orthodox faithful are insisting, reports Blagovest-Info.

The local Orthodox population of the village, which sits on the border of Georgia of Turkey, have appealed to local authorities to prevent this blasphemous arrangement. “The church is a holy place, and we mustn’t allow the building of a ‘house of sin’ next to a church,” the faithful assert.

Iconostasis for unique Moscow church being carved out of 300-year-old oak tree

A unique church is under construction in northern Moscow as part of the “200” church-building program. The wooden Church of the 12 Apostles, being built by hand according to traditional methods, will be adorned with an even more unique iconostasis that is being carved out of a 300-year-old oak tree from the territory of Donskoy Monastery, reports the press service of State Duma Deputy Vladimir Resin, the curator of the “200” program.

New Greek Metropolitan of Chicago consecrated

The vacant See of Chicago of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America (GOARCH) was officially filled on Saturday, with the consecration of Archimandrite Nathanael (Symeonides) to the episcopate at the Holy Trinity Archdiocesan Cathedral on Saturday.
