On 25th February 2018, the 1st Sunday of Great Lent, Sunday of Orthodoxy, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, conducted the concelebration of the Primates, together with His Beatitude Patriarch Ioannis of Antioch and His Beatitude Chyrostomos II, Archbishop of Cyprus, with the participation of many Hierarchs of Orthodox Churches around the world, at the Hly Church of the Wisdom of God, in Strovolos, Nicosia.

St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia was home to several celebrations yesterday, including, in addition to the liturgical celebration of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, the anniversary of the electoin of His Holiness Patriarch Neofit as the primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

On 23rd February 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa arrived in Cyprus, following an official invitation from His Beatitude Chrysostomos, Archbishop of Cyprus, on the occasion of the 4oth anniversary since his elevation to the rank of Bishop, by his election on 25th February 1978 as Metropolitan of Paphos.

On 25 February 2018, the Sunday of Orthodoxy, the commemoration day of the Iberian icon of the Mother of God and of St. Alexius, Metropolitan of Kiev, Moscow and All Russia the Wonderworker, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the Liturgy of St Basil the Great and the Office of the Triumph of Orthodoxy at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.

First Orthodox abbess enthroned in Fiji

For the first few years of its existence, the Monastery of the Dormition in Saweni, Fiji had no official spiritual head. However, as the “Pacific Islands Greek Orthodox Church” Facebook group reports, Abbess Gerontissa Melani has been officially installed as the abbess of the monastery.

The convent, which sits near the coast in the northwestern Lautoka area of the main island, is under the jurisdiction of the Metropolis of New Zealand of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The enthronement was celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Amphilochius of New Zealand, the Basilica News Agency reports.

On Friday February 3/16, 2018, the Patriarchate celebrated the commemoration of St. Simeon the God-receiver, who held in his holy arms our Lord Who was brought to the Temple according to the Law when He was forty days old. The feast was held at the Holy Monastery of St. Simeon where his tomb lies, at the Katamon district of West Jerusalem.
