On Saturday, the 6th/19th of March 2016, the Saturday of the First Week of the Fasting Period, the Patriarchate of Jerusalem commemorated the miracle of St Theodore the Tyron and the Great-Martyr at the Monastery dedicated to his name to the west of the Patriarchate on the way to the New Gate.

On March 19, 2016, a solemn ceremony took place in the French capital on the occasion of the blessing and installation of the main cupola and a cross on top of the new cathedral church of the diocese of Chersonese, on the Branley embankment.

The event was attended by Russian and French officials, diplomats, city officials and builders, as well as Orthodox bishops and clergy, representatives of the Russian community in France, French and Russian journalists and the Orthodox faithful in Paris.

Russian pilgrims feel at home in Israel - Patriarch Kirill

Over 400,000 pilgrims from Russia visited Israel over the past year, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said during a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in Moscow.

"The fact that over a million people in Israel speak Russian creates a special atmosphere for our pilgrims, and they often feel at home in Israel," the patriarch said.

Georgian Oligarch May Try to Buy Jerusalem’s Jvari Monastery

An unnamed Georgian billionaire may try to buy the Jvari Monastery in Jerusalem for several million dollars, according to media outlet Business Press News.

A source close to the proposed offer would not go on record regarding the man’s identity, but also refused to deny that he may be billionaire oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, Georgia’s controversial former Prime Minister and founder of the country’s ruling Georgian Dream party.

Saturday, March 5th was a very special day at Stanford University and the entire San Francisco Bay Area.  With great organization of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship at Stanford, our Diocese, and with great help from His Grace Bishop Maxim and local Serbian Orthodox communities, we welcomed three well-known professors from different parts of the world – Very Rev. Archimandrite Dr. John Pantelimon Manoussakis, Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Holy Cross Theological School, Dr. Cornelia Tsakiridou, professor of Philosophy at LaSalle University, and Dr. George Kordis, professor Emeritus of Iconography at University of Athens.  All three came to give us varying lectures on Christian Orthodox Icons, their beauty, meaning, and further future in the twenty first century.
