Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey visits the Phanar

On Monday, January 3, 2011, His All Holiness met at the Ecumenical Patriarchate with the Hon. Bülent Arınç, State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey. Mr. Arınç is also the former House Speaker of the Turkish Parliament (2002-2007). The Deputy Prime Minister held private conversations with the Ecumenical Patriarch, attended a reception with leading representatives of the Greek community and its institutions in Turkey, and addressed the media with the Patriarch.

"Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth peace, good will towards men" [Luke 2:14].

The angelic proclamation at the Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the good news of the restoration of all things. In Christ, all things are made new, God is made man, and the order of nature is restored. All things are filled with His glory. All creation itself sings with joy, radiating the glory of God, while the angelic hosts join in praise of the One Who has been made manifest to us.

Orthodox chaplains to celebrate Nativity and Theophany in Afghanistan

Two Orthodox Christian chaplains will provide services for the Great Feasts of Nativity and Theophany in Afghanistan this year.

Archpriest Jerome Cwiklinski, US Navy Chaplain and priest of the Orthodox Church in America, will conduct a circuit through the southwestern region of Afghanistan in December and January. Priest Christopher Moody, a National Guard chaplain and priest of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, will provide coverage in the country's northeastern region. Father Christopher is currently deployed to Afghanistan.

Orthodox consultation focuses on Christian unity in theological education

Thirty representatives of Orthodox institutions gathered in mid-November 2010 at the Andrei Saguna theological faculty in Sibiu, Romania to reflect on the topic "The Ecumenical Movement in Theological Education and the Life of Orthodox Churches". This discussion was moderated by Metropolitan Gennadios of Sassima (Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople).
