We gratefully accept this invaluable honor of being received into the doctoral college of this esteemed Roman Catholic academic institution. We welcome this privilege as recognition of the sacred ministry of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, an Apostolic institution with a history spanning seventeen centuries, throughout retaining its See in Constantinople.
Moscow needs about 600 new Orthodox churches - Patriarch Kirill
31. August 2010 - 9:00Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia believes two hundred churches that are to be built by Moscow city authorities in frames of a special program are not enough. "If we take a relative figure that corresponds to the statistics of Baptism (about 80% of ethnically Orthodox population) then to take (Moscow - IF) figure to the average Russian rate of 11 200 people per parish, we need 591 churches more," the Patriarch said on Monday at a special session in Moscow dedicated to the mentioned program.
Orthodox church to be built in Beslan to commemorate victims killed by terrorists

August 2010 - 8:52A commemorative cross will be erected at the yard of the destroyed school in Beslan on September 2, then an Orthodox church will be built here to commemorate victims of the terrorist act, the local administration told Interfax on Thursday. Besides, this year the plan of mourning events includes concert-requiem Memory of the Heart suggested by Mothers of Beslan committee.

During their lengthy talks His Beatitude informed His Excellency the Prime Minister about the historic path of the Alexandrian Church as well as of its multifaceted missionary, philanthropic, educational and social activities in the countries of Africa for the suffering people.
Church could help modern art, Russian painter believes
