Orthodox orphanage for 200 children inagurated In Madagascar
On 30th May 2015, the second day of his visit to the Holy Metropolis of Madagascar, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa visited Andoharanofotsy, where in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt and the Mayor of the city, he inaugurated the new girls orphanage which will house 200 poor and orphaned children.
The building of this Institution has been the concern and dream of Ignatios, Metropolitan of Madagascar for many years, seeing that in this country as well as in many others in sub-Saharan Africa, many babies are left in the streets as their parents are unable to feed them because of poverty, as the Metropolitan mentioned in his speech, thanking God for the realization of his vision.
Very emotionally addressing the Metropolitan and the representatives of the country, His Beatitude said that the Orthodox Church embraces all people, regardless of nationality and this Orphanage is proof that the Church of Alexandria cares for and treats the suffering and neglected people of the African Continent, particularly the children which are the most beautiful creatures of God.
The Patriarch thanked the living donors, as well as commemorating the late donors and benefactors of this building project and in conclusion a festive reception was hosted for everyone.
