Parade in Greektown to honor Greek culture

The 8th annual Detroit Greek Independence Day Parade is to roll through downtown Detroit starting at 3 p.m. Sunday in front of the Compuware building on Monroe. The parade is to end in Greektown near St. Antoine.

The parade's grand marshal will be Archbishop Demetrios, primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America and spiritual leader of 1.8 million Greek Orthodox Christians.

After the parade, dancers from Greece and metro Detroit are to perform in costumes representing Greek regions.
