Pascha in St. Petersburg

Once again this year the faithful of the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in St. Petersburg, FL gathered together to celebrate the Resurrection of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. The Midnight Office began at 6:45am and the Procession around the church while chanting Thy Resurrection O Christ our God began about 7am. There may have been only about  40 or so so early, but the faithful came as the light of the morning grew brighter so that by the end of the Paschal Matins and the beginning of the Paschal liturgy the church was fuller than it had been in many years!

There was no space among the pews. The faithful lined the walls and back of the church to be present and celebrate this most divine and glorious day together. And to make our cup of joy overflow with the Lord’s goodness over 100 of those present communed of the Divine and Holy Mysteries of Christ, something never seen in our community. We thank God for His blessings and benevolence towards us. More of the faithful made an effort to attend Holy Week Services, especially Thursday night, at all three services on Friday and even on Saturday morning.
