Pastoral visit by His Beatitude to Kenya
At dawn on Monday 9th May 2016, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, arrived in Kenya, accompanied by the Reverend Protoprsbyter Athenodoros Papaevripiadis, Exarch of the Patriarchate in Cyprus, to fulfil a Pastoral Visit to this country and to perform the enthronements of the two new Bishops of Nyeri and Mount Kenya, Gis Grace Neophytos and Kisumu and Western Kenya His Grace Athanasios within the next few days.
His Beatitude was welcomed at the International Airport in the country By His Eminence Makarios Metropolitan of Nairobi, their Grace the two Bishops, His Excellency the Ambassador of Greece Mr Konstantinos Moatsos, His Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt to Kenya Mr. Kadri Abdel-Motelib, and many priests.
On the same day, following a brief rest, the Alexandrian Primate, in the presence of the above Hierarchs, had a working meeting with the heads of the missionary heads and parishes of the Orthodox districts of Kenya, to provide more effective and systematic planning in Mission. The Patriarch gave paternal admonitions and advice so that everyone, in coordination, may make every effort in this field, particularly because of the prevalent economic problems there. He also emphasized that the two new Dioceses in the broader region of Kenya belong to the fullness of the Orthodox, Apostolic and Catholic Church, and renewed their spiritual ties with the venerable Centre of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
