The Patriarch of Alexandria gives courage and hope to the poor Christians of Northern Uganda
On Wednesday 4th November 2015, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, continuing his Missionary journey to the rough region of Gulu in northern Uganda, visited the holy Churches of the Life-Giving Fountain, and the Archangel Gabriel as well as the adjacent school, literally built in the jungle, where the pupils afforded him an enthusiastic welcome.
In his warm words, His Beatitude addressed the pupils with words of love, emphasized that they must use this opportunity for learning and later on as they grow up they will remember with gratitude the Orthodox school which gave them this enormous opportunity.
On the afternoon of the same day, following the visit to the holy Church of St Lavrentios, His Beatitude met with the priests of the region, where he expressed the Church’s pleasure and his personal pleasure too, on their sacrificial ministry in this border region troubled by war and poverty.
The priests in their turn expressed their gratitude to His Beatitude for his visit which proves his paternal concern for and interest in not only their region, but also for the entire African continent.
