Patriarch of Alexandria at the Greek community of Dar es Salaam

On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, the Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, at the final stop of his visit to the Holy Archdiocese of Arusha and Central Tanzania, visited the town Dar es Salaam.

On the same evening, the Primate of the Alexandrian Church was welcomed by the Ambassador of Egypt to Tanzania, where he attended the wonderful dinner provided in his honor at the ambassadorial residency.

Among the participants were Metropolitan Dimitrios of Eirinoupolis and prominent religious leaders of Africa and Middle East.

On Wednesday, May 22, in the morning, the Patriarch officiated during the Orthros (Matins) and the Divine Liturgy that were held at  Agia Paraskevi Metropolitan Church at Dar es Salaam.

After the end of the Holy Service, there took place the sanctification of the founding stone at the under construction Missionary and Spiritual Center, which shall house the Presbytery, the Missionary hostel, the event Hall and the Kitchen for the Friday feeding of approximately 200 needy and poor children.

On Thursday, May 23, before his departure, the Patriarch was warmly welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania, who announced the historic recognition of the Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, in Tanzania.
