Patriarch of Alexandria inaugurated new ecclesiastical museum of Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified

On March 29, the Fourth Sunday of the Great Lent, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa presided over the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St. Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.

He also performed the memorial service for the repose of the soul of his mother Cleopatra, who passed away three years ago, and inaugurated the new Ecclesiastical Museum of the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified.

The new ecclesiastical museum was revived on the initiative of Patriarch Theodore and exhibits vestments and sacred vessels of his predecessors.

The primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, deeply moved, said, “Today, on the feast day of Saint John Sinaites, all Egypt is celebrating. I would like to express my joy today as we celebrate Saint John Climacus of Sinai, the author of The Ladder,” he said. He added, “It is a great honor for our Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified. The priests and I inaugurated the re-established museum with the vestments and valuables of the Patriarchs and Hierarchs who held and honored the Throne of the Apostle and Evangelist Mark. God bless them.”

After the Divine Liturgy, the memorial service for the repose of the Patriarch’s mother, Cleopatra, was held with much emotion. The memorial was attended by the Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo, Metropolitan Nikodimos of Memphis, the Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, Metropolitan Narcissus of Naucratis, Bishop Germanos of Tamiathus and all clergymen of Patriarchal Court attended the memorial service.Finally, the new Ecclesiastical Museum of the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas was inaugurated.
