Patriarch of Alexandria meets with Antonis Samaras
On 14th November 2014, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, met with His Excellency Prime Miniaster Antonis Samaras of Greece at the Maximos Mansion. The meeting took place so that His Beatitude could be briefed on the developments connected with the recent three-day summit between Egypt-Greece-Cyprus in the Egyptian capital.
His Beatitude assured the Greek Prime Minister that he will assist in any way possible in the prospect of joint action being taken by the political leadership of the three countries in the sensitive area of the eastern Mediterranean, particularly in the promotion of tolerance of different religious expression and the inhibition of terrorism resulting from perverse ideological or religious motives.
Mr Samaras thanked His Beatitude for his institutional presence and action in the Land of the Nile and in Africa, describing him as an Ambassador for Hellenism in every corner of the African continent. Indeed he expressed his impression of the love His Excellency the President of Egypt Mr Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has for His Beatitude and his admiration for the humanistic work of the Patriarchate. It should be noted that during the meeting of the two men Mrs. Lina Mendoni, Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
