Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople will visit Russia on May 22-31 at the invitation of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. Patriarch Bartholomew will visit Moscow, Sergiyev Posad, the Valaam Monastery and St. Petersburg.

Patriarch Kirill paid his first visit as Patriarch to Turkey in July 2009. Patriarch Bartholomew said then in a homily during the Concelebrate Divine Liturgy with Patriarch Kirill in the Patriarchal Church of St. George in Istanbul: "Certain shadows and small clouds may from time to time conceal the relationships among our sister Churches; but these only possess temporary character."

"This unity, which is achieved in the common Cup, cannot be taken from us by anyone," he said.
