Patriarch Irinej calls Sarajevo Serbs to preserve their faith, culture and language

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, visited on Sunday, 15 September, the building of the Administrative centre of the City of East Sarajevo, where he talked to the leadership of the City, city municipalities, as well as to representatives of the Republic of Srpska in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Serbian Patriarch on this occasion said that it was most important for the Serbs that in the time of spiritual, moral and material crisis, survive as the people, to preserve their faith, culture and language, because they have faith, culture and history that they must not let down. 

His Holiness also said that the Administrative centre of the City of East Sarajevo should be the place of gathering of the people, and the people should trust this institution and people who work in it.

Mayor of East Sarajevo Mr. Nenad Samardzija said that this visit fall in the days when they mark the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the city East Sarajevo and the slava of Saint Peter Zimonjic of Sarajevo." In this city Republic of Srpska was born and many institutions of Srpska were established", he reminded.

With the visit to East Sarajevo Serbian Patriarch Irinej concluded his two-day visit to the Metropolitanate of Dabar-Bosna on the occasion of the jubilees of Metropolitan Nikolaj.
